This 1960s mother of pearl vanity set is in very good condition. The high quality iridescent mother of pearl lid decorations are gorgeous. The 'Mayfair Series' powder compact is suitable for all standard sizes of face powder measuring 67 mm diameter, for example Max Factor Creme Puff, Rimmel Stay Matte, Miss Beauty and Constance Carroll. The compact and lipstick do not have any traces of powder or makeup. Both mirrors have a slight haze. However, as you can see from image four they give good and accurate reflections. The powder well of the compact is lined with the pristine waxed paper inlay. The mirror bezel is signed 'KIGU MADE IN ENGLAND'. The base of the compact mirror is decorated with a bold spiral. The lipstick case is named the 'Flippy', as it has a flip up mirror. The lipstick tube has a linear engine turned design. The base of the lipstick is signed 'KIGU'.
The original case is clad with cream material and the edges have brass rims. The interior lid is lined with satin and signed 'KIGU of London'. The Kigu triangular trademark is also stamped in gilt. The interior base is lined with crimson velvet. The compact measures 3" and weighs 86.9 grams. The lipstick holder / mirror measures 2 1/4" and weighs 27 grams.
